Combining the technology of today with the wisdom of how towns used to work, 5401 North will be a 400-acre town that has everything around the corner, is friendly to the earth and healthy for the people who live and work there.
Rising in Raleigh, NC, where the economy spins on the bright ideas of bright minds, 5401 North is redefining the company town, blending a comfortable place to work with great places to live and enjoy life. 5401 North is under development in one of the America's most desirable places – the Research Triangle communities that are headlined by Raleigh. Founded in 1951 by Baton Rouge businessman Wilbur Marvin, Commercial Properties Realty Trust began as a commercial real estate company formed to primarily acquire, own, lease, redevelop and manage neighborhood and community shopping centers. Today, it is a successful real estate investment trust and, as an affiliate of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, its profits provide community impact and benefit.
Commercial Properties manages a superior portfolio of assets that includes shopping centers in Florida, Louisiana and Texas and Mississippi, and an office complex, apartments and a Hilton Hotel in Baton Rouge, LA. The company is developing a 400-acre green community in Raleigh, NC and properties in Puerto Rico. Commercial Properties manages four million square feet of real estate.
Our Mission
To operate a commercial real estate company that maximizes profits and makes a difference in the communities where we invest.
Our Vision
To combine creativity and operational excellence with our exceptional reputation as a trusted and dynamic commercial real estate company to create extraordinary assets for long-term value and impact.
The Baton Rouge Area Foundation, a community foundation with $620 million in assets, provides two essential functions for the capital region.
1. The Foundation connects philanthropists with capable nonprofits to make sure the needs of our communities are met. For example, our donors buy eyeglasses for needy children, fund services to care for abused women and children and underwrite the arts. We help donors create a lasting legacy and fulfill their philanthropic goals.
2. The Foundation invests in and manages pivotal projects that can change the community. Our real estate asset revived the abandoned Capitol House and is set to work on other groundbreaking projects in Baton Rouge and Raleigh, where we are building 5401N. We chose Raleigh because the growing economy and thoughtful public policies let us create a green, healthy and complete community that produces a higher return on investment.
What's more, the Foundation is working with community partners from the Northshore to Lake Charles in creating an economic corridor. The Foundation also has a partner on the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain and another in Southwest Louisiana.
